NATO Gearing Up for Direct Conflict with Russia: Hungarian Prime Minister

The Western NATO alliance is moving ever closer to direct conflict with Russia over Ukraine, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said. “Instead of defending us, NATO is dragging us [Hungary], a member state, into a world war,” Mr. Orban said in broadcast remarks on May 31. Hungary has been a member of NATO since 1999. However, unlike other alliance members, Hungary under Mr. Orban has maintained good relations with Russia despite the latter’s ongoing invasion of eastern Ukraine.
