
Costa Mesa Honors an ‘Unwavering Spirit’ on Her 106th Birthday

Sarah Sullivan’s birthday cake didn’t have 106 candles, but it was decorated with a big “106,” a glowing tribute to Ms. Sullivan at the party honoring her in a Costa Mesa senior living center. “That looks like my grandson over there,” Sullivan said joyfully as she was wheeled in, pointing to a news photographer and holding onto a birthday card she had received. Ms. Sullivan has been living at the care home for the past five years. A posterboard celebrating the big day displayed photos both classic and current of Ms. Sullivan, known by staff members as a beloved and “unwavering spirit” who deserved a hearty cheer for a life’s journey that began on May 28, 1918....
