
Study Warns Highly Realistic AI-Generated Deepfakes Could Enhance ‘Electoral Interference’
Highly realistic AI-generated deepfakes containing false allegations about political candidates could enhance “electoral interference,” according to a study. Research by The Alan Turing Institute’s Centre for Emerging Technology and Security (CETaS) on Wednesday urged Ofcom and the Electoral Commission to address the use of AI in upcoming elections. A number of politicians, including Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, and the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan have been the subjects of misleading AI content.
