National Memorial Day Parade in Washington Honors Veterans

WASHINGTON—Thousands of Americans descended on Washington on May 27 to watch the American Veterans Center’s 2024 National Memorial Day Parade. Despite overcast conditions interspersed with light drizzle, the parade began as planned around 2:00 p.m. ET. The parade was hosted by actor Anthony Anderson and comedian Drew Carey, and featured a musical performance from country artist Brian Kelley. The guests of honor for the event were World War 2 veterans. These veterans, some showing the scars of their time in combat, were honored with reserved seating at the head of the event. The event honored U.S. veterans throughout American history, ranging from the Sons of the American Revolution to veterans of Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield in Iraq. Veterans of the Republic of China, otherwise known as Taiwan, and veterans of the former South Vietnamese Republic, who fought against communism during the Vietnam War, were also honored....
