14-Year-Old Girl Killed by Car in Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.—Detectives in Newport Beach May 26 were investigating the death of a 14-year-old girl who was struck by a pickup truck on the Balboa Peninsula. The Newport Beach Police Department issued an advisory at 7:32 p.m. May 25, saying that it had shut down eastbound Balboa Street at westbound Palm Street due to a traffic collision. Police Sgt. Steven Oberon confirmed to City News Service on Sunday that the decedent was a 14-year-old girl. The driver of the truck stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities, KCAL9 reported.
