
UK Man Charged With Spying for Hong Kong Found Dead in Park

A former Royal Marine charged recently with spying for Hong Kong has died, the police said on Tuesday. Thames Valley Police said a man found dead on Sunday evening in Grenfell Park, Maidenhead, had been formally identified as Matthew Trickett. His death is being treated as unexplained. Mr. Trickett, 37, from Maidenhead, appeared in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 13 along with two other men. They were charged with agreeing to “undertake information gathering, surveillance, and acts of deception that were likely to materially assist a foreign intelligence service,” namely Hong Kong, and forcing entry into a UK residential address on May 1. They had all been bailed and were due to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday....
