
Garland Contempt Hearing Marred by Representatives’ Personal Attacks
Thursday saw a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing on whether Attorney General Merrick Garland should be held in contempt for withholding the Robert Hur investigation audio interview with President Joe Biden from Congress. The hearing devolved into chaos, however, with several members shouting and hurling insults at each other. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) got into a heated exchange when Ms. Greene suggested that Ms. Crockett’s “fake eyelashes” were apparently interfering with her vision. As Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) motioned to strike Ms. Greene’s comments, Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) struggled to keep order, with Ms. Ocasio-Cortez addressing Ms. Greene as “baby girl,” and Ms. Greene asking if her feelings had been hurt....
