
‘Suspicious Package’ Delivered to Floor of California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Office

A “suspicious package” initially believed to be anthrax was delivered to the floor of California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office in the Capitol Annex Swing Space space on Thursday, according to internal memos sent to those in the building. The package was delivered to the 9th floor of the building—located in downtown Sacramento—according to a memo sent to Assembly members and State Senators and shared on the social media platform X. The notice said the package came with a threat that it contained anthrax, which prompted officials to ask lawmakers and other staff members to evacuate the building.
