UK Incels Could Be in Tens of Thousands Researchers Tell MPs

The number of people self-identifying as incels in Britain could be “tens of thousands,” according to an academic who led the biggest global research into the sub-culture. The House of Commons Women and Equalities Committee is investigating incel (involuntary celibate) culture following concerns about its involvement in misogynistic and other forms of violence. Last year an inquest into the deaths of five people, including a young child, who were shot dead in Plymouth in August 2021, heard the gunman Jake Davison identified as an incel. A lawyer for a former GCHQ worker, Joshua Bowles, who was jailed for life last year for stabbing a woman who worked for the U.S. National Security Agency in Cheltenham, said his client had been living an “incel” lifestyle at the time of the incident....
