Budget Boost for Australia’s National AI Centre, Safeguards Against High-Risk AI

The May 14 federal budget allocated an $39 million (US$26 million) funding package, under the Future Made in Australia plan, to guard against the risks of AI technology across Australia’s business and infrastructure as the tool becomes more prominent in everyday society, increasingly exposing governments to national security risks.
