
Civil Rights Lawsuit Against Berkeley Schools Expanded With Claim Anti-Semitism Is Growing

Groups suing the Berkeley Unified School District in California over what they say is a hostile environment for Jewish students expanded their lawsuit May 6, saying anti-Semitism is allegedly worsening. The Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights against the school district in February. The lawsuit claims Jewish students have been subjected to “severe and persistent” harassment and discrimination by their peers and teachers since Oct. 7, when Hamas terrorists invaded southern Israel and killed around 1,200 Israelis and foreigners, and kidnapped several hundred others....
