
Dozens Held in Pro-Palestinian Protest in UCLA Parking Lot
Dozens were detained by police during a pro-Palestine demonstration in a parking lot on UCLA’s campus May 6. After police dismantled an encampment set up on UCLA’s campus last week, protesters returned in a demonstration in a campus parking lot. More than 40 protesters were taken into custody, local news outlet KTLA reported. Meanwhile, approximately 50 people gathered, also May 6, inside the school’s Moore Hall, staging a sit-in protest. However, the crowd dispersed from the building by 9 a.m., according to KCAL 9. A little after 10 a.m., the university announced classes would be virtual-only for the remainder of the day. The incident comes after more than 200 were arrested on UCLA’s campus May 2 as police also dismantled an encampment outside Royce Hall made of tents, plywood, and other materials....
