Cats Died After Drinking Raw Milk From Cows With Bird Flu

Cats in the United States died after being fed raw milk from cows infected with highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) A, researchers reported on April 29. Twenty-four cats at a Texas dairy farm consumed raw milk and colostrum from cows with the influenza, also known as the bird flu, Texas veterinarian Barbara Petersen and other researchers said in a study. Half of the cats were found dead, starting on March 19. The cats displayed symptoms just before death, including stiff movements and blindness.
