Blackstone-owned Crown Resorts will remove up to 1,000 jobs amid a decline in tourists and gaming restrictions impacting its Melbourne and Sydney operations. “The challenges at Crown reflect greatly reduced foreign tourism, a sharp decline in local workers in the city centres, and restrictions on gaming play in Sydney and Melbourne,” said Crown Resorts CEO Ciaran Carruthers. “We are committed to our regulatory obligations and ongoing transformation, including Crown PlaySafe, Melbourne and Sydney transformation plans and ongoing remediation in Perth.” Crown’s website says that it has over 20,000 people working at its resorts, meaning the mass layoff will affect about 5 percent of its employees....
