New Arrests at UT–Austin as Pro-Palestinian Group Sets Up Encampment

Law enforcement officials on Monday began arresting Pro-Palestinian protesters at The University of Texas at Austin. “Free Palestine,” the protesters chanted as they formed an encampment on the South Mall of the university Monday afternoon, the Austin-American Statesman reported. “Who’s Lawn? Our Lawn,” the group chanted. The arrests come days after charges were dropped against 57 protesters who participated in last week’s class walkout in support of Hamas-controlled Gaza and demanded the university divest from Israel.
