
Chicago City Council Approves $70 Million for Illegal Immigrants Despite Opposition From Locals
Despite fierce opposition from Chicago citizens, the Chicago City Council approved Mayor Brandon Johnson’s request for $70 million to be doled out to illegal immigrants pouring into the city. The city has already budgeted $150 million for noncitizens from multiple countries flocking to Chicago under the Biden administration’s open border policy for this fiscal year, according to CBS News Chicago. The state of Illinois and Cook County have also pledged $25o million for illegal immigration support in Chicago. The city council passed the measure with a 30–18 vote on April 19.
