
‘Get Tested’: How Hip Pain Led to Late Cancer Diagnosis

When squash coach Malcolm McClarty experienced persistent pain in his right hip, he chalked it up to just another sports injury. But when the 63-year-old described his symptoms to one of his students, oncologist Niall Tebbutt, it immediately set off alarm bells. Professor Tebbutt ordered a PSA blood test, and subsequent diagnostic assessments confirmed Mr. McClarty had stage four prostate cancer. “It just devastated me,” he told AAP.
