
Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Dog Shot, Recovering at Home

COMPTON, Calif.—A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department dog was recovering and “resting comfortably” April 18 after being shot by an assault suspect during a search in Compton. “During the course of the search, the suspect discharged his firearm, which struck K9 ‘Kjeld’ resulting in an injury,” according to a social media post by the sheriff’s department. “Fortunately, K9 Kjeld, who was equipped with a bulletproof vest, underwent successful treatment and has since been discharged from veterinary care.” The confrontation occurred Wednesday night near Spruce Street in Compton, where deputies were working to arrest a suspect for assault with a deadly weapon, sheriff’s officials said....
