Los Angeles Transients Build House Between River and 110 Freeway

While many of the homeless in Los Angeles live in tents, recreational vehicles, or other makeshift shelters, one group has constructed a house with a stone wall and walkway. The house was built in an encampment between the 110 Freeway and the Arroyo Seco, surrounded by tents, tarps and other scrapped materials. The home is equipped with electric-powered lighting and has a hammock for relaxing, according to KTLA 5 News. One neighbor said the structure was impressive. “I was just admiring the work that they’ve done,” Mike Ancheta told the news station. But Mr. Ancheta said the city needs to clear the encampment....
