
Multimillion Dollar Deal to Settle Breast-Surgery Suit

Women who allegedly suffered complications undergoing so-called “One Size Fits All” breast augmentation surgery in two states could be compensated under a proposed class-action settlement. The lawsuit was launched against The Cosmetic Institute in 2017 by patients in NSW and Queensland who claimed they suffered distressing complications because of the negligence of the company’s surgeons and staff. Those issues included heart problems, punctured lungs and seizures, among other conditions. The long-running case had been scheduled for a lengthy civil hearing to begin in the NSW Supreme Court on Monday, but the parties instead reached a last-minute agreement to settle the dispute for $25 million....
