California Escapee Convicted of Attempted Murder Captured in Arizona

LOS ANGELES—A man convicted of attempted murder who walked away from a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s Male Community Reentry Program facility in Los Angeles was captured April 15 in a Phoenix suburb. Adolfo Casillas was taken into custody at approximately 6:15 p.m. by members of a U.S. Marshals Service task force in Tollenson, Arizona and will be booked into a Maricopa County Jail where he will await extradition to California, a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation official said. Mr. Casillias came to the reentry program from Los Angeles County on Aug. 19, 2019 after he was sentenced to 14 years for attempted second-degree murder with an enhancement of the Street Gang Act in commission of a serious felony, the department said.
