FBI Director to Warn Congress of ‘Diverse’ Threats to US From ‘Myriad Sources’

In an anticipated address to the House Appropriations Committee Thursday afternoon, FBI Director Christopher Wray is set to outline a concerning landscape of threats against the United States, stressing the challenges posed by a mix of nation-states, hostile foreign intelligence services, criminals, and technology-driven exploits. According to Mr. Wray, the United States faces an unprecedented range of dangers, from homegrown violent extremists and cyberattacks to the sexual exploitation of children online and human trafficking. “Over the past year, the threats facing our nation have escalated,” Mr. Wray said in prepared remarks reviewed by The Epoch Times. “Keeping pace with these threats is a significant challenge for the FBI, especially as technology evolves and allows adversaries to use the Internet and social media to facilitate illegal activities, recruit followers, encourage terrorist attacks and other illicit actions, to spread misinformation, and to disperse information on building improvised explosive devices and other means to attack the United States.”...
