Israel has promised to retaliate if attacked by Iran, following a warning from Tehran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that it “must be punished” for an alleged Israeli airstrike in Syria earlier this month. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant issued the warning on April 10 while visiting troops at an Iron Dome battery in northern Israel. Any attack on Israel would result in a strong defense followed by a “powerful response in its territory,” Mr. Gallant said, The Times of Israel reported. “In this war, we are being attacked from more than one front … from different directions.
