Liberal Party Managers Attended MP Han Dong’s Nomination Meeting, Inquiry Hears

Chinese agents targeted a 2019 nomination meeting for MP Han Dong that was attended by senior Liberal Party managers, newly released documents allege. Eyewitness testimony from Mr. Dong’s former campaign manager, Ted Lojko, placed Liberal party members at the incumbent MP’s nomination vote, according to documents tabled last week by Commission on Foreign Interference. The documents were first obtained by Blacklock’s Reporter. “Party brass from Ottawa were at the nomination vote” held in Toronto in September 2019 for the Don Valley North candidate, Mr. Lojko told the inquiry, although he was unable to recall who watched the vote unfold. “They were there because whoever won would be a new candidate nominated after the writ had dropped,” Mr. Lojko said. “They wanted to know whether there was anything the media could pick up on to tarnish the campaign.” ...
