
Nearly 100 Measles Cases Reported in US

The latest report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirms that 97 measles cases were reported in 18 jurisdictions in the United States, along with seven outbreaks, in the first three months of 2024. The CDC defines an outbreak as three or more related cases. For comparison, the 97 cases mark a 67 percent increase from the 58 cases of measles confirmed during four outbreaks that occurred throughout 2023. Of those, 48 percent (28 of 58) were outbreak-associated. Of the 97 measles cases confirmed so far in 2024, 70 have been outbreak-related, and the majority of the cases have been reported in those who recently traveled outside of the United States, particularly unvaccinated travelers....
