UK Government Releases New Salary Thresholds for Skilled Workers

The government has published the new salary thresholds for skilled worker visas (SWV), introducing a substantial increase in the current general rate. Each job eligible for the SWV is assigned a specified minimum salary, known as the going rate. The standard going rate for people arriving in the UK on a skilled worker visa starting on or after April 4 will increase from £26,200 to £38,700. For workers on existing sponsorships, or lower rate, the threshold will rise to £29,000. This means, however, that when the existing visas expire and an extension is required, applicants will have to secure a higher salary.
