
UK Government Releases New Salary Thresholds for Skilled Workers
The government has published the new salary thresholds for skilled worker visas (SWV), introducing a substantial increase in the current general rate. Each job eligible for the SWV is assigned a specified minimum salary, known as the going rate. The standard going rate for people arriving in the UK on a skilled worker visa starting on or after April 4 will increase from £26,200 to £38,700. For workers on existing sponsorships, or lower rate, the threshold will rise to £29,000. This means, however, that when the existing visas expire and an extension is required, applicants will have to secure a higher salary. Current going rates are based on the Office of National Statistics data on earnings from 2021. From April 4, it will be based on data from 2023. This translates to higher annual going rates....
