NHS Will Continue Giving Cross-Sex Hormones to Teenagers

NHS England has announced it will continue to prescribe cross-sex hormones for children as young as 16 following a review of its clinical practice for young people experiencing gender confusion. Although the NHS will no longer allow children to take puberty blockers following widespread concern about their harm from clinicians and campaign groups, its updated policy allows young people to be given “masculising” and “feminising” hormones if it is judged to be in their best interests.
