Senior Australian politicians, including the prime minister, have backed the country’s Ambassador to the United States, Kevin Rudd, in the face of an attack by GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump. However, a U.S. president can easily revoke an ambassador’s credentials with just a signature, meaning U.S.-Australia relations under a Trump presidency could quickly become precarious.
