Meth Worth $5 Million Seized in Huge Haul Disguised as Tea

A vehicle intercept on the Gold Coast has led to the discovery of almost $5 million worth of drugs disguised as tea, police say. Two people have been charged after 35kg of methamphetamine was allegedly seized from the car at Mudgeeraba. Police said detectives intercepted a Toyota RAV4 on the Pacific Motorway about 7.30pm on March 18, locating two large sports bags. They allegedly contained 35 bags of meth concealed in packages to look like imported tea. Police said it had an estimated street value of more than $4.7 million. The driver and sole occupant, a 41-year-old woman from NSW, has been remanded in custody after being charged with a number of drug offences.
