Foreign Minister Cites ‘Issues’ With NDP Motion on Palestinian Statehood but Doesn’t State Gov’t’s Position

Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly says foreign policy cannot be dictated by an NDP push to have Canada officially recognize a Palestinian state. Despite her declaration, Ms. Joly didn’t state the government’s position during her speech in the House March 18, although NDP and Conservative MPs asked for clarification on where the Liberals stand.
