
Half of Inmates High on Drugs: Prison Inspector
A prison in England is dealing with a “near-tsunami of drugs,” with more than half of inmates testing positive for narcotics, the chief inspector of prisons has said. HM Inspectorate of Prisons stated in a report published on Tuesday that a test carried out at an inspection of HMP Hindley in Greater Manchester revealed 52 percent of inmates tested positive for narcotics, “meaning that well over half the population were active drug users while we were inspecting.” The inspectorate said the rate was the highest of all prisons in England and Wales.
