
Theresa May to Leave Parliament at Next Election

Theresa May will stand down at the next general election after 27 years in Parliament, the former prime minister announced on Friday. The MP for Maidenhead said she made the “difficult decision” in order to focus on her NGO work including as chair of the Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking. In a statement to local newspaper Maidenhead Advertiser, Mrs. May said she will help the next Conservative candidate with the election campaign and “remain committed” to supporting Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. “It has been an honour and a privilege to serve everyone in the Maidenhead constituency as the Member of Parliament for the last 27 years,” Mrs. May said in the statement....
