
RNC Expected to Elect Trump-Backed Leaders as McDaniel Exits
HOUSTON—The Republican National Committee is expected to elect a new chair and co-chair at its spring meeting here on March 8, ratifying the choices former President Donald Trump announced to the media in February. Michael Whatley, chair of the North Carolina Republican Party, is expected to be named chairman. Lara Trump, the former president’s daughter-in-law, is likely to be elected co-chair. Former RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel announced her resignation on Feb. 26, saying she would remain at the helm until March 8. Current co-Chair Drew McKissick has also announced his intention to step down.
