Former President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he would employ local police to handle mass deportations of illegal immigrants if he secures a second term in November. During a Feb. 29 interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity in Eagle Pass, Texas, President Trump called the southern border “the worst border ever in the history of the world,” citing the illegal crossings of millions of migrants there. “There’s never been a border where 15, 16, maybe 18 million people have already crossed, and I think nobody has any idea what the number is,” the Republican primary front-runner told the news outlet. President Trump also pledged to provide “immunity” to police so they can combat illegal crossings at the border.
