Beijing Sides With Moscow Over Navalny’s Sudden Death

While global public opinion generally held skepticism and condemnation of Moscow over the sudden death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Beijing took the opposite stance, calling the incident “Russian’s internal affair” in what was seemingly a defending move for Moscow. On Feb. 16, Moscow announced that Mr. Navalny died in a Russian prison near the Arctic Circle, where he was serving his sentence. According to the prison authority, the 47-year-old felt unwell and collapsed after a walk and almost immediately lost consciousness; medical staff failed to revive him.
