
Parent Group Sues California Official for ‘Misleading’ Title of Parent Notification Ballot Initiative
A California parental rights group recently filed a lawsuit against state Attorney General Rob Bonta, claiming he has attempted to undermine its proposed parental notification ballot petition. The group, called Protect Kids California, submitted a ballot measure in September called the “Protect Kids of California Act of 2024,” which would ask the state’s voters if schools must notify parents if their child identifies as transgender. As part of his duties as attorney general, Mr. Bonta is required to provide a neutral and accurate title and summary for the ballot measure. In November, Mr. Bonta re-titled it as the “Restricts Rights of Transgender Youth Initiative,” which the group claimed in a Feb. 13 press release is “a highly biased, factually inaccurate and misleading title and summary that has prejudiced the initiative.”...
