A Calgary man has been given a 14-year jail sentence for beating and killing his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter for interrupting him when he was playing a video game. Justin Bennett was found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Ivy Wick and sentenced to 14 years, but he can apply for parole after about eight years due to credit for time served. The child was found unconscious in her room on Sept. 27, 2017, and was taken to Alberta’s Children’s Hospital. It was determined that she had suffered a traumatic brain injury and underwent neurosurgery, court record says. She was then placed on life support but died on Oct. 5, 2017....
