Lloyd Austin to Be Released From Hospital Tuesday: Pentagon

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is expected to be discharged from critical care on Tuesday, according to the Pentagon. Mr. Austin was admitted to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Feb. 11 for emergency care related to an emergent bladder issue. The health scare follows Mr. Austin’s prostate cancer diagnosis in December and several related surgeries. Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh spoke with reporters about the situation on Feb. 13. “My understanding is it’s not related to his cancer diagnosis,” Ms. Singh said. “I can’t speak to whether this is a complication from his previous surgeries.” Ms. Singh said that Mr. Austin was expected to leave the hospital later in the day, and to participate virtually at a meeting of the Ukraine Contact Group and NATO defense ministerial later in the week....
