Florida Stops Gender Changes on Licenses, Department Cites ‘Fraud’ and Lack of Authority

Florida drivers can no longer alter their license to state any gender that differs from their biological sex, as the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) announced that not only is it “fraud” to do so, but that it did not have the authority to allow such a change. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) announced the decision to rescind the Driver License Operations Manual, Issuance Requirements, IR08-Gender Requirements, on Jan. 30, arguing that it had no authority under state law to do so. And legislative changes are possibly on the way to back up that decision....
