Independent MP Kevin Vuong flagged the issue of fraudsters using fake income for mortgage loans in Parliament, citing an investigative report linking these schemes to Chinese money laundering that has been driving the Canadian housing crisis. “Every house bought by fraudsters is one less home Canadians can buy,” Mr. Vuong said in a Feb. 7 statement on the platform X. “By turning a blind eye to money laundering & mortgage fraud, there are fewer homes,” he added. “Less supply = higher prices.
