
Where Do Investigations Into 2023’s Arsons Amid Record Wildfires Stand?
Following Canada’s worst wildfire season on record in 2023, two charges were laid for arson in the first month of 2024, in Quebec and Nova Scotia. Police say investigations into wildfire arsons continue in provinces across the country, with several focused on Alberta specifically. “The Serious Crimes Branch, Forestry Crimes Unit (FCU) with the Alberta RCMP investigated and, or assisted on several incendiary wildfires in 2023 that resulted in 13 charges being laid for Arson and other related offences under the Forest and Prairie Protection Act,” Fraser Logan, Alberta RCMP media relations manager, told The Epoch Times by email on Jan. 24.
