Businesses Hiring More Guards to Protect Employees From Crime in Oakland

Security measures are being ramped up in response to rising crime in Oakland, California, with several businesses recently announcing extra steps to safeguard employees. Cleaning products giant Clorox—headquartered in Oakland since 1913—told The Epoch Times in a statement Feb. 2 that the company hired more uniformed security guards to “escort our teammates to and from BART, parking garages, local restaurants and coffee shops, and other destinations around the area.” Such is needed to maintain a safe working environment, the company said. “The safety and security of our teammates is our highest priority and we have taken steps to help protect them and our visitors at our Oakland headquarters,” a spokesperson for Clorox said. “We’re actively working with local business leaders to identify ways we can collaborate to make Oakland safer for our collective workforce and the entire community.”...
