Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell will not be reappointed to a third term as head of the U.S. central bank, says former President Donald Trump. The Republican frontrunner told Fox Business on Jan. 2 that he will not nominate Mr. Powell to another term if he is re-elected in November, accusing the Fed chief of being “political” and missing on inflation. “I think he’s political,” President Trump said to host Maria Bartiromo. “I think he’s going to do something to probably help the Democrats, I think, if he lowers interest rates.” President Trump warned that the U.S. economy could face the possibility of witnessing an inflation resurgence, citing chaos in the Middle East that would lead to “tremendous spikes in the price of oil.”...
