The suspect in a chemical attack on a woman and a child in Clapham, south London, arrived in Britain illegally from Afghanistan and was later convicted of a sexual assault, it has emerged. Eleven people were taken to hospital on Wednesday night after a man armed with a corrosive alkaline substance attacked a woman and her two children on a quiet residential road near Clapham Common.
