Jean Carnahan, the first woman to represent Missouri in the U.S. Senate after being appointed to fill the seat vacant by her husband’s death in 2000, has died at the age of 90. Ms. Carnahan passed away at a hospital in St. Louis after a brief illness, according to a statement released by her family on Tuesday.
