As Nation Remains Focused on Texas Border Standoff, Arizona Experiences Record Surge of Illegal Immigrants

As national attention remains fixated on the constitutional crisis at the Texas border, the neighboring state of Arizona continues to endure a record wave of illegal immigrants. Recently released data from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) shows that in December, agents made a record 87,330 encounters with illegal immigrants in the Yuma and Tucson sectors, which cover the state. The new all-time high eclipses the previous high, recorded just one month earlier in Nov. 2023, when CBP agents reported 70,796 encounters.
