Democrats Launch Guerrilla Warfare to Delay or Stop Mayorkas Impeachment Markup Hearing

Republicans on the House Committee on Homeland Security defeated a Democrat motion to adjourn a markup hearing shortly after it began on Articles of Impeachment of Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on a straight party-line vote of 18–14 in the opening move on Tuesday of what is expected to be a hard-fought and lengthy hearing. That motion, made by Ranking Member Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), was followed by another motion from him to dispense with the reading of H. Res. 863, “Impeaching Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, for High Crimes and Misdemeanors.” The complete text can be read here.
