
Texas Won’t Let Federal Officials Take Over Border Park: Attorney General
Texas officials will not let federal officials into a park at the U.S.-Mexico border, the state attorney general said on Jan. 26. Texas Military Department officers secured Shelby Park in Eagle Pass on Jan. 11 to help stem the surge in illegal immigration. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) then urged officers to halt their activities, which included erecting razor wire to deter illegal immigrants. After Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton rejected the request, DHS demanded in a followup missive that Texas remove razor wire and let agents access the park.
