Rape Allegation Against Cop Added to Raft of Domestic Violence Charges

A senior constable accused of assaulting, stalking and raping a Sydney woman has been hit with another allegation of sexual assault. Jonathan Charles Bettles was arrested while on mental health leave in September last year and faces 22 charges in the Local Courts. He has been accused of a myriad of offences committed against his alleged victim between June 2019 and August 2021 including punching her in the head, knocking her unconscious, crushing her between a door and a wall and stomping on her foot. The 36-year-old police officer has more recently been hit with a charge of sexual intercourse without consent adding to an existing charge of aggravated sexual assault where he was said to have inflicted actual bodily harm on his victim....
