The amount of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in cyberspace continues to expand and grow. Over the past 15 years, reports of online sexual abuse material have skyrocketed 15,000 percent, according to Thorn—a nonprofit organization started by actors Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher that develops technology to protect children from abuse and predation. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) said its CyberTipline received almost 32 million reports of child abuse in 2022 and instances of online enticement of children for sexual acts almost doubled from 44,155 to 80,524.
